WINTER WORKSHOP 2012
Sixth Annual Event

ALGBTICAL hosted its 6th Annual Winter Workshop on Friday, February 10, 2012. The event took place at the Homewood Public Library, in the Birmingham area.  The Winter Workshop theme was: "Making Change Happen."  ALMHCA (Alabama Mental Health Counselors Association) partnered with ALGBTICAL in sponsoring the event.

 

It was a very successful workshop.  Attendance was the best ever.  And response from attendees was very favorable.  Everyone had a great time!

 

 

The workshop featured keynote speaker Dr. Quinn Pearson, presenting her perspectives on Advocacy in Counseling and Counselor Ethics And Responsibilities.

 

 

Also featured was Mr. Joshua Burford, presenting information on Reasons for Advocacy, Addressing Queer Youth Issues, School and College Issues, Student Outreach and Engagement, and Allies Support and Participation.

 

 

A very moving Panel Discussion of LGBT Advocates was also part of the day's activities.  Panelists included Frank Hrabe, Glenda Elliott, Paul Hard, Jessica Merchant, Me4lissa Scott, and Mallory McKee.

 

 

Information Tables featuring LGBT Organizations, Vendors and Resources was included.  And a very successful Art Auction was featured.
